"touching, entertaining, amusing and thought provoking, all in one" - A Younger Theatre
Accidents and Emergencies is a programme of brand-new short musicals inspired by experiences in Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments in England.
Four creative teams - consisting of three individuals acting as composer, lyricist and bookwriter, and one pair sharing these roles - each agreed to write a new musical for Accidents and Emergencies. At the project launch in July 2015, the creatives received a series of prompts in the form of anonymised first-hand accounts of experiences in A&E; they have taken themes and moments from the prompts in their new musicals, which had their world premiere in Accidents and Emergencies.
The creators of the new musicals were Rebecca Applin, Gus Gowland, Jennifer Whyte and Matt Winkworth and Chris Bush. Asia Osborne and Jeremy Lloyd Thomas directed, with Nathan Martin serving as Musical Director. Accidents and Emergencies was produced by Sue Knox for This Stage Limited.
The four members of the cast - Sharon Ballard, Nadeem Crowe, Daniel Hall and Jenny Perry - each appeared in at least two of the pieces.
The world premiere run of Accidents and Emergencies took place in November 2015 at the LOST Theatre.
